{"id":469,"date":"2019-12-04T21:09:32","date_gmt":"2019-12-04T21:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.backroadswineries.com\/blog\/?p=469"},"modified":"2019-12-04T21:09:32","modified_gmt":"2019-12-04T21:09:32","slug":"glunz-family-holiday-tradition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.backroadswineries.com\/blog\/2019\/12\/04\/glunz-family-holiday-tradition\/","title":{"rendered":"A Glunz Family Holiday Tradition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">by Matthew Glunz<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year the Glunz family makes a mulled wine for the holiday season called Vin Gl\u00f6gg.\u00a0 My great grandfather who was German opened up a wine store in 1888 right next to a Swedish neighborhood on the north side of Chicago.\u00a0 Every winter, he would blend up large batches of Gl\u00f6gg in the basement of his store and sell it to the Swedes around Chicago.\u00a0 130 years later, we still use his original recipe using half port and half red wine.\u00a0 To that, we add cinnamon, cardamon, clove, nutmeg and orange peel.\u00a0 We let in sit in tank for 2 weeks before we bottle it.\u00a0 The result is a wine that tastes like Christmas! Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glunzfamilywinery.com\/product\/Vin-Glogg1?pageID=A28B8C98-B57D-3B5A-EF69-CD3FA561D346&amp;sortBy=DisplayOrder&amp;maxRows=10&amp;\">Vin Gl\u00f6gg<\/a> is intended to be served heated to warm you up from the inside out during the cold winter days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glunzfamilywinery.com\/About-Us\/Our-Story\">The Glunz Family<\/a> is proud to be carrying on this holiday tradition here in the beautiful rolling hills of Paso Robles.
